Chairmans Reports 2008
February
February has been an active month for our club. Our annual dinner at The Brent House restaurant was well supported by members and their guests, plenty of good food and drink ensured a lively evening. Photos taken on the night are now in our gallery.
Our club meeting on the 19 February was a hands on and social night. The two lathes were occupied all evening with the more experienced members helping the less experienced. This is the first time we have had a hands on evenings. It has proved to be a great success. This theme will be repeated on nights when we do not have a professional demonstrator.
Two new members were welcomed to our club. Tom has never done any woodturning as yet, but is an accomplished carver of rocking horses. I look forward to seeing some of his work as carving is of interest to a lot of our members. Richard I am told is a tree surgeon I can see him becoming a very popular member in the future.
We are always pleased to see new faces and welcome all visitors who will receive a warm welcome.
Our new website continues to be developed and improved, but we still need more input from members. More pics and articles forwarded to myself for inclusion would be appreciated. Also anyone visiting our website whether they are a member or not can feel free to Email me their views at g.foweraker@sky.com
Next month we have a demonstration by Jason Breech from Axminster tools to look forward to. I have never seen Jason demonstrate but I am assured that he is a very talented woodturner.
